Kinnard Chapter Wins 3 National
Individual Excellence Awards

Kinnard Chapter was honored to win 3 of the 6 prestigious national Individual Excellence Awards at the recent national TelecomPioneer Annual Meeting held in Anaheim, California in February.  Two awards are given in each of three categories:  members, life members and partnersThese are the only awards that any Verizon Pioneer Chapter received

Honors were given to Leni Herr and Sarah DePaolo in the Life Member category and Tom DePaolo in the Pioneer Partner category.  It is the first time a husband and wife received awards in the same year!  All three were to attend the annual meeting as finalists, not knowing they had actually won the awards, but the Valentine’s Day snowstorm caused their flight to be canceled, leaving them in Pennsylvania, while the awards were being given out.  The winners received their awards at the March Chapter Executive Board meeting.

International Coastal Cleanup Project

The L.H. Kinnard Pioneers participated in the  2006 International Coastal Cleanup Project in Pennsylvania.  The 2006 ICC in Pennsylvania resulted in almost 19,000 pounds of trash being picked up from 98 miles of rivers, lakes, and streams by over 1000  volunteers at 10 different sites around the state.   People, pounds, and miles all increased over previous years!

If you know someone interested in the environment, we are always looking for new volunteers and cleanup site coordinators.  Please contact Leni Herr, PA State Coordinator.
