| Here is another
book by Verizon retiree and Pioneer Jim Marquette. This book
features photographs of picture postcards advertising the early telephone.
Picture postcards were first used in 1893 to advertise the Chicago World's
fair. Then the Bell Telephone Company started using them to advertise
their services and products. These cards are from the early 1900s and some
show uses of the phone, such as calling for transportation or the fire
department. The book is dedicated to the many people who spent their
entire lives working in the telephone industry. Price:
$15, including shipping. Once again Jim is giving a small portion of
the proceeds to the Pioneers. |
